This stunning Omega Calatrava was stored at the bottom of a drawer for a very long time before finding its way to us. The watch was purchased from a gentleman whose grandfather was the original owner. He received it as a gift from his mother, who worked as a maid for an aristocratic family in Vienna.
An absolutely stunning timepiece in true barn-find condition, preserving its original, decades old patina. The crystal, based on the tone of the plastic and the presence of micro-cracks, when compared with other original crystals from the same period, suggests that it may still retain its original factory crystal.
After removal of the crystal, the watch reveals a stunning glossy black dial with vertical brushing, showcasing exceptional depth and character.
The case shows expected wear marks consistent with age, but no serious structural damage.
The movement is amazingly well preserved. The plating shows no patina, remains homogeneous, and is in stunning condition. Only minor screwdriver marks are present on the screw heads, which is entirely normal for a watch of this age.
This is a very rare timepiece in its configuration, one that comes to market only rarely.
